In 1980, when the US boycotted the Moscow Olympics, a group of Kansas City sports enthusiasts came up with the great idea of holding our own "Olympic Games" here in K.C.  Thus the first "Kansas City Corporate Olympics" was held, featuring competition between 18 companies, including approximately 1,500 individuals in 11 different events.

Little did these visionaries realize that 25 years later the Games would still be going stronger than ever!  The name was changed to the "Kansas City Corporate Challenge" in 1981, and this year marks the 25th year for this great event.  The KCCC has grown to include 165 companies and more than 20,000 individual participants.  The Games now consist of 25 events held over a seven-week period.

The philosophy of the KCCC has always been to promote employee fitness and recreation within the Kansas City business community.  No other event offers the diversity of sporting opportunities that are provided by the Kansas City Corporate Challenge.  There is something for everyone.  Recreational activities such as darts, horseshoes, and fishing are represented as well as competitive athletic events such as softball, volleyball, swimming, and running.  A non-competitive walk is one of the most popular events in the KCCC and gives everyone a reason to get moving!

Over the past 25 years, more than 400 Kansas City area corporations have participated in the KCCC.  Thanks to these companies' involvement and support, the Kansas City CorporateChallenge remains the largest corporate games event in the U.S.
